bpma Announces New Fee Structure and Membership Classifications

The bpma has announced that following discussions with their membership, it has launched a new logo and new membership classification. Members will fall into three areas, ‘Associate’ for new merchandise companies, ‘Affiliate’ for companies that generate less than 50% of their turnover in the promotional merchandise industry, and ‘Accredited’ for members with at least 3 years industry trading and satisfactory accounts. The new logos will be phased in over the coming year.

This clearer identification will help categorise members and provide an emphasis on positioning and potential development. Those that wish to go the extra mile can also apply for ‘Charter’ status (details also on the website). The Charter does, of course, require an even more stringent criteria, but the future benefits are clear (there is a small additional charge to administer this process)

Members will then be classified as to whether they are a Distributor, Supplier, or Service Partner.

The bpma has also restructured its fees to represent a fairer share of cost.  Fees can start from as little as £295 for those companies with an annual turnover of up-to £250,000  to a maximum of £925 for those over £2m.  “Over half our members will actually enjoy a member fee drop” commented Director General, Gordon Glenister “whilst those at the higher end will see a more even and proportionate price structure”

In recent times the bpma has successfully invested in a range of initiatives both end user facing and within the industry itself. More recently, it has embarked upon a route which will greatly enhance and  develop the strength of the  industry (namely the Professional Development Programme). Feedback from a recent focus group exercise was very positive and welcomed both the re-classification and fee re-structure as providing ‘clarity, aspiration and fairness’ in equal amounts.
