Roddy Rutland, who has been managing director and CEO of Headwear UK for 17 years, has decided to take a step back from the pressures of the industry and announce his retirement.
Roddy, who has been with Headwear UK since its inception in 1999, took a sabbatical in October 2016 and was expected to return to work in February, but after due consideration he has turned his leave into retirement.
“As many of you know my health has not been the best in the past couple of years, and so I have decided to stop now and enjoy the things that are most important to me,” Roddy explained. “Of course, this does not mean that I will be leaving Headwear altogether as I will remain a partner in the business for years to come, but I will be taking a much reduced part in day to day operations.
“It’s been a great journey for me, I’ve loved every minute of being part of our loyal customers’ businesses and would thank you all for your loyal and consistent support.”
The company will be seeking a new CEO but in the meantime, senior partner and CEO of Headwear Group, Peter Barblett, will continue to manage Headwear UK through the transitional period.
